Charlie O’Brien

is a Windsor, Ontario photo artist who has just retired from a long, successful career as a radio broadcaster.

He worked at many large stations in Ontario and Quebec including Montreal (CKGM) Sudbury (CKSO), London (CFPL) and Ottawa (CFGO). Two prominent rock stations include 1050CHUM Toronto and many years at the Big 8 CKLW in Detroit/Windsor. For the last 18 years Charlie was the Morning Show host and Program Director at Oldies Radio AM580 CKWW.

Charlie's first interest in photography happened at an early age when he discovered his father’s photo enlarger, developing chemicals and mixing trays. Now the digital darkroom is his domain.

The work over the years includes photographing many major concerts and shows in the area at Caesars Windsor, The Fox Theatre, DTE Energy Music Theatre and The Palace of Auburn Hills. Truly any subject can be in front of his lens – from portraits, landscapes, macro closeups to fashion modelling shoots.

In recent years digital photo montages, photo manipulations, watercolor and oil treatments of his photos have highlighted his art.

Charlie’s works have been published in the global artistry magazine “Living the Photo Artistic Life”: his work is featured in issues 1, 2, 3 and 17. Link to the magazine The Photoartistic Life magazine

As a visiting artist at The Walkerville Artist’s Co-op, two series: “>The Musicians Performance Series” and “Art From Cuba” were featured.

Charlie has been the on-site photographer at the two most recent TEDx Windsor talks.
